  • Sprinting for weight loss

    How about sprinting?

I've read this one guy online say that if he HAD to pick just one exercise that he was allowed to do for the rest of his life, it would be sprinting. Does anybody know what kinds of benefits are found there? That's something I'm really curious about.

Dave, I think you've got an unhealthy obsession with weight loss.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I often to TABATA intervals as part of my workout http://www.intervaltraining.net/tabata.html. It consists of 20 seconds on followed by 10 seconds of rest repeated 8 times. IOW: 20 on, 10 off for 8 rounds, or a total of 4 minutes. Usually I'll do burpees or situps or pushups. But you can do about any exercise. I've also done it with deadlifts and push press. I doubt it helps with weight loss any more than any other good exercise, and I don't believe 4 minutes a day is going to help you lose weight. But you can add it to your current workout and it will make you more fit.

It would probably work. All the sprinters I know are relatively thin and tone.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. If you could only do one exercise wouldnt you want to incorporate the upper body? I would go with burpees. But why would you only be able to do one exercise? Kind of a pointless hypothetical, I suppose.
