The brown and pink persons of this world should not allow whitey to force their milk upon us.Originally posted by Babs View PostNah. They banned strawberry, too. All colors, really."Sure, I fought. Lame. 50 grams of sugar? How big are the serving sizes these days? They were a cup when I was a kid (1/2 pint). That contains 226 calories, 8 grams of protein and 30 grams of sugar. Compared to 2% milk--12 grams of sugar. Big deal. A cup of chocolate mild for lunch doesn't make kids fat.Originally posted by Babs View Postfrom schools. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43414471
I hope this catches on. If there's one thing I will never understand about the school nutrition programs, it's how they produce bland, inedible food in the name of health, but then give the kids chocolate milk twice a day. That's fifty grams of sugar!
NBC interviewed whiny parents who are like, "my kid won't drink milk at all if it's not strawberry or chocolate." Well, okay, but that's hardly an excuse to subsidize its use in the schools. Sheesh.
Also, chocolate milk is a great post workout recovery drink. Perfect for after recess!

Hmm...
Do California kids actually eat this stuff? Now for the food: no more chicken (or “chicken” nuggets), corn dogs or other breaded items. This fall, students will be served stuff like spinach tortellini in butternut squash sauce and California sushi rolls for school lunch. They’ll also try out more “ethnic” foods and have more vegetarian options, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Nanny state. Not everyone agrees with the changes. One board member who voted against the new milk contract pointed out there’s more sugar in the juice served with school breakfasts than there is in a carton of chocolate milk. A great point. I said twice a day. Half the kids eat breakfast and lunch, and the schools in this part of the country don't offer juice. That's two chocolate milks a day, which, by your count, is 60 grams of sugar. That is INSANE.Originally posted by Jacob View PostLame. 50 grams of sugar? How big are the serving sizes these days? They were a cup when I was a kid (1/2 pint). Two chocolate milks a day alone isn't making our kids fat, but the dietary mindset your post embraces is.

Feeding them breakfast and lunch is also insane. But hey, that's California. People worry about the wrong things.

There is a difference, apparently.
Maybe they should simply offer chocolate milk artificially sweetened with Splenda. Then it would have significantly less sugar than juice.Originally posted by Babs View PostTwo chocolate milks a day alone isn't making our kids fat, but the dietary mindset your post embraces is.

I actually missed that the first time. What baloney. I embrace the "dietary mindset" of my post, yet my kids aren't fat and neither am I, Like I said, worrying about the wrong things. Chocolate milk bans? Come on. I think I'll have another donut.Originally posted by Babs View PostTwo chocolate milks a day alone isn't making our kids fat, but the dietary mindset your post embraces is.

Au contraire, mon frere. Chocolate milk is always in our refrigerator. I avoid it only when in weight loss mode, and often not even then.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThings LAUte hates:

It pains me that you judge me so harshly. I even like the Ducks. I cheered loudly for them in last year's NC game. Look what that has gotten me.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”
