Treadmill and elliptical brands

We're looking to buy a treadmill and elliptical to create a home gym. With what we spend for our gym memberships, it would be more worth it to invest in turning one of our empty bedrooms into a gym. What brands are worth looking at, though? I'm a big guy (weight and height), so I want something sturdy. I like the LifeFitness brand I use at the gym, but they look really expensive. Any recommendations for a gym-quality (or near-gym-quality) treadmill and elliptical brand?

Rated #1 in Consumer Reports (they were at the time anyway). Lifetime warranty. Quite expensive for home equipment but outstanding quality and a terrific deck. Never once had a sore leg or shin split or anything after working out.
