  • Need some music suggestions - a "power song"

Would love to have several "power songs" that any of you have on your iPod that helps you get in the groove if/when you are running or cycling. I'm burned out on my songs, and am ready to download some good tunes that gives you a boost to run hard or cycle hard during that particular tune.

    Suggestions????
"Newton's First Law of Motion: ...things at rest tend to stay at rest. Things in motion, tend to stay in motion...."

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

This may sound trite but Freebird is the no-fail powersong I have. It always gives me a pick-up and in fact I save it for the last mile in most races or long training runs. I admit the response may be pavlovian by now.

Yeah, but it starts so slow. How do you get past the long run up?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The slow run up is what makes it great to end with. You are already cruising at a certain speed when it starts so that's your baseline, and as the song builds so does your intensity. And, like I said before, just hearing the opening chord gets me excited.

i personally prefer double bass driven metal, but fatboy slim is good too (and i just wanted an excuse to post this video):

well, there's always Power from the most recent Kanye album. I think that one qualifies.

Another one from the same album that is my current choice for 'best run-finishing song' is Monster. About 93 bpm but doubles to a perfect 186 and gets the adrenaline going.

Lose Yourself by Eminem is another classic in the same genre.

2 songs that have me involuntarily sprinting on my runs are The Warrior's Code by Dropkick Murphy's and Roman's Revenge by nicki minaj (not for the faint of heart)
