  • Ran a fun 10 mile race in Oregon this weekend

It's the Pear Blossom run in Medford, Oregon and it's a lot of fun for many reasons. Most fun for me is the fact that even though it's a small city, the turnout is fantastic and there are always some elite runners (Oregon cranks them out) who come home and support this race. The course is an out and back which I normally don't care for, but in this race it's fun because you actually get to see the leaders come back by and since I grew up here I usually know a couple of them. I always hope to hit the 4 mile mark before they come past me but this year was only at 3.6. This year's winner averaged 4:55/mile and the guy that got second lost by a mere 10 seconds. Tough to imagine averaging 4:56/mile and losing.

If you live within a reasonable distance of Southern Oregon and you like to run, I highly recommend the Pear Blossom. I think the atmosphere and support are comparable to St. George's Marathon It's a great weekend in a beautiful part of the country.
