Growing up we had unbelievable tournaments. Mostly cause of all the LDS HS players who would essentially recruit the rest of their HS team to play with them. Volleyball in general though seems to be a very popular sport for LDS.
Sounds like our stake/region. We had Manhattan, Hermosa & Redondo Beach in our stake. A lot of the guys I played with & against ended up in the Olympics & AVP.

I was actually up in Santa Clarita. So we played lots of the Antelope Valley teams but also a ton of the /Santa Barbara Co schools. We played in the summer leagues with the Marmonte League teams. Though we did play in the Orange tournament down your way and also played Mira Costa who is unbelievable.

5 of our 12 were LDS on the volleyball team. I was the only one that really played though. At 6'1" I was also the shortest guy on our team.

In HS, our entire starting offensive line was LDS. I remember most of the Hart HS football team being LDS too and The Friend magazine doing a little blurb about it.

Did you play any club VB? I played on the Torrance VB Club; we had most of the Mira Costa guys on our team. I grew up & played with the Fonoimoanas & Hannemans, our ward team was essentially Mira Costa's varsity squad.....good times!

I didn't play any club. Back when I played the Synergy Club in Santa Clarita was very bad and not worth the money. Now they are one of the top teams in the country. In fact, none of the other guys on our team played club except for tournaments we'd enter and summer leagues. Another reason was almost all the players on our team played other sports too. I played football, so as soon as the season was over I'd roll right into spring ball and would have passing tournaments and such.

We played a tournament my sophomore year I think. I want to say it was the Royal tournament and Mira Costa kicked our ass. I remember watching them warm up and thinking that we were going to get killed.
