What do I need to do? I'm planning on going to the ER as soon as I can, but what can I expect them to do? Should I see someone else instead?

AC separations come in several "grades". Usually we see grades 1-3 which can be treated successfully w/ conservative management. Should get better with time but may have some residual achiness in the long run."You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

I had a client who had this same exact injury given to her by her boyfriend. But she was the one who was arrested because she left some barely visible fingernail marks on him. She was hurting pretty bad for a couple weeks.

I've had grade 3's on both shoulders. Each from snowboarding. The last time I didn't go to the doctor for 3 weeks. Finally my roommate's fiance made me go when I let out an audible yell trying to raise my right arm to the square to sustain someone at Church. Sleeping is the worst with an AC separation. Take a painkiller before you go to bed. Trust me on this. Recovery on my second one was 6 weeks BTW. The doctor actually considered surgery but wanted to see what a few weeks in a sling would do first. He told me no more snowboarding for the season. Given it was January and how much season passes are I said eff it and snowboarded with it. I just stayed out of the park and did some soul-boarding.
