I made it in 3x last week. Was extremely sore the first few days but was still able to play soccer on Saturday. We did a 1 rep max on back squat yesterday and I hit 275 which I know isn't impressive but I was happy after 2 years off and a lot of bad weight gain. I'm settling into a groove of 3x/week at crossfit, 1 league soccer game on Thursdays, and then pickup soccer on Saturday. I'm encouraged that this time I'll reach my fitness goals. It has been a struggle since I moved to NYC.

I'm impressed. My max was only 185 with bad form. I've been correcting it, and I'm only just now getting close to that old max with much better form.
      Not that, sickos.

I guess I meant unimpressive to the regulars who typically populate crossfit gyms. I actually was near the top of my beginner class. I have larger than average man legs due to genetics and a lifetime of track and soccer. However, any illusion of strength is shattered when I remove my shirt or try to bench press.

Jacob was one. All the mean jerks on this board finally wore him down and he stopped posting.

Good, not sure what I'm doing myself so I'm glad somebody not only gets it but respects me for it.

Pelag is getting anxious about crossfit cuz they're stepping into his territory now in a big way.

I've come around on Crossfit. I like it. I'll probably never do it, but I like it. I think if I did it I would suffer a catastrophic injury within a few weeks (it's not Crossfits fault I can only engage in a 2-3 different movement patterns at this point in my life).

Furthermore, as mormonism is to religion, crossfit is to fitness. For example:

                            1. Founders that are considered prophetic by members and pretty much crazy by outsiders

                            2. One true chruch/one true fitness regime.

                            3. Crossfit costs are the fitness equivalent of a full tithe.

                            4. Highly centralized/top down authority structure.

I'm married to a crossfitter, so that is categorically untrue!

And about the costs of Crossfit: my wife pays $100/month at her Crossfit "box" (), which is quite a bit more expensive than a typical gym membership but I don't complain about it anymore because she gets 20-25 hours/month of pretty focused instruction, so it seems like an acceptable deal. All the workout clothing and equipment that are marketed to crossfitters, that is a different story.

There is another one: 5. aggressively create words for stuff that already exists (box/gym) to define the ingroup/outgroup boundary.

Glad you basically went with the i know a crossfitter defense.
