  • Injury question

Suppose I was out running this morning and I turned my ankle. I ran on it for another three miles or so and iced it when I got home. It hurt like a motha at first, but now I can walk on it ok, but it is uncomfortable and if I step on it wrong it will hurt. There is also a knot on it the size of a tennis ball.
So, the question is, how long do you think it will take to heal, so I can run on it again? Say, 26.2 miles. Please don't say more than two weeks.

    No St George for you.

If you don't wanna see a doctor, google Ottawa rules for a start.
"Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"

"So where does the power come from to see the race to its end...from within"

if it's only a sprain (likely, based on the fact that you could continue to put weight on it) then you could consider aggressive PT for the next 2 weeks and taping the ankle in order to run your marathon. It depend's on how important this race is for you and how much pain you can tolerate. Jack Youngblood played a football game with a fractured fibula.
"You interns are like swallows. You shit all over my patients for six weeks and then fly off."

"Don't be sorry, it's not your fault. It's my fault for overestimating your competence."

Yeah, you don't want to be a bigger sissy than Jack Youngblood do you?

I sprained my ankle badly playing basketball once, had the tennis ball thing on the side of my ankle for a while. I wasn't running normally for a couple of months. Mine might have been worse, though. There was no way I could have run on it right afterwards.
