  • Edmondo or other?

So I've been recently inspired to try and take up running again. I ran track in high school (some sprints and middle distance as I'm not cut out for long runs like Niku). I also ran for fun in college both before and after the mission. However ever since getting married and getting a job I've just left exercise by the wayside. I'm not a big guy, although at one point I got to 170 pounds but now I'm back down between 155 and 160. I really don't need to lose weight but just want to get in shape.

So today I've committed to run at least 4 times a week. I'll start out at about 2 miles a day (I know I can do this) and then increase it gradually until I can consistently do 5 milers. When I ran track in high school my longest run ever was 7 miles, which was tough given that I'm a fast twitch guy. I'm not a guy to want to run a marathon or anything like that but I might enter a 5k here or there. Back at BYU I did place kind of high one year in the turkey trot and that included me stopping to puke once.

Anyway, is there a consenus on what to use to track my running? I have an iPhone and my wife uses Edmondo (I think that is how you spell it) because it's free but I wanted to see if there is anything better out there. Anyway, let me know what you use.

I guess its called Endomondo and so far it has been great. I'd recommend it as a tracking tool if you have an iPhone and want something that is free. Mrs. Jones and I use it and so we can log in online and see each others workouts. I just found out that you can even send texts to someones phone while they are running and it translates it to speech so they can hear the text through their headphones. This tool will be fun going forward.

    So this week I ran:

Monday: 1.5 miles then I threw up, walked .2 miles and then finished running .3 miles
    Wednesday: 1.7 miles
    Friday: 1.9 miles

I'm no Nikuman but at some point I want to be able to reel off 5 milers like nobody's business. I just need to get over the dry heaving and throwing up that has plagued me since my senior year of high school.
