    dailymile

This may be old news, but I just noticed that dailymile.com has added sync capabilities with Garmins. We could host a challenge there and not have anyone have to manage things. It syncs with Garmins and Nike Plus, and allows manual input. And plenty of challenges, or you can create your own. anyone interested?

My wife said the other day that she wanted to get a heart monitor so I'm thinking about getting a Garmin. It's much more fancy than what she was thinking of, but I'd enjoy the GPS. Is the Forerunner 305 still the CUF device of choice?

For me, it is, although I have a few friends with the 405, and for a woman, I might do that one. A little pricier, but much smaller and lighter, and very cool.

Mine should be arriving this afternoon. From everything that I have read it is the model that is tried and true. The subsequent versions have some additional cool features, but cost twice as much and do have some drawbacks is what I have walked away with. If you go on Amazon and look at the pages for the 310 and the 405 and scroll down to "What Do Customers Ultimately Buy After Viewing This Item?" most people buy a 305 after looking at the others, FWIW.

I'll let you know how I like mine tomorrow.

Guys, you really should check this website out. I remember looking at it last summer before we started our challenge and liking it a lot, but found that they didn't have syncing capabilities. I've been playing around on it this morning and they've added quite a bit since then. It's really fun. Let me know if anyone does so I can add you as a friend.

Did you buy yours through Amazon?

I got mine (305) about a year ago through Costco. I imagine that the prices are about the same at either place.

FWIW, I absolutely love mine. The computer software that it comes with is not the greatest, but GarminConnect is a little better. I'm am also checking out the dailymile that ERC recommended.

I helped my mom buy my dad one through Amazon at Christmas last year. My initial search revealed a $250 price but then I looked at the links to the other stores that they provide. One of the "other" stores was Amazon (I still haven't figured that out) and she was able to pick it up for $150. That's the price I would shoot for if I were you. I got it for that price at Costco and it seems there is always somebody with that sale price if you look hard enough.

I just created my account. Tried to add you as a friend but the adding wheel just kept spinning. I'll try again later. Looks like it could be a fun site for challenges.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the deal is. I just posted something on the forums to see if anyone had any answers. I can search my name and my profile pops up, but if I search for either you or BG, it doesn't. Maybe there's a lag between when you sign up and when you show up on searches? I even did the facebook friends search and it doesn't show either of you.

Never mind...it just worked. I'm not sure why you weren't showing up on my searches but you're added now. Now, everyone else sign up and let's get some challenges going!

It looks like there is quite a lag between logging in and having your profile become publicly available on the search function. I hadn't initially realized it but they sent me an email to confirm my membership that took me a while to respond to. That may have slowed it up some as well.

The site is a little low on volume, but other than that I like what i see. Its fairly intuitive and user friendly. I haven't joined any challenges yet to see how they work, but I think it would be a great way to run a challenge here.

yeah, just noticed the activation email. I'll bet that was the only problem.

Look under the community tab. I tried to find you but it says you're not there. Did you do the confirmation email yet?
