  • Biggest Loser..........

I saw on ET tonight that Eric who won the biggest loser a few years ago and lost 214 pounds is now back up to 368 pounds and he blames the show. Saying after the show they throw you to the wayside. The dude learned everything about how to lose weight and even lost 80 pounds at home, yet he blames the show for "Dropping him when they were done with him". He also won 250,000 or whatever the winner gets. The guy looks like he is still making the same excuses.

Interesting because that same show reached out to him after putting all the weight back on.

What does he expect? Bob or Jillian to follow him around for the rest of his life?

Season premier was tonight. It really is a great show, but thank goodness for the DVR. 2 hours is a bit much.

Agreed. The best way to watch the show is to fast forward through the commercials, the food/snack testimonies, and the crying.

There are some big boys on this season. The Tongan counsins are funny. The younger one reminds me of Surfah's younger brother, if he was 100 pounds bigger. He looks similar but he says the same kind of stuff. That and when he threw down the curling bar and yelled because he was tired. The kid also threw up about 3-5 times last night while working out. Classic BIL.

I think he saw an opportunity to have his weight loss paid for and took it. He's got his own show on discovery or something that is following his weight loss efforts.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

When they went to his house, didn't they challenge him to lose some weight and then weigh-in at last season's finale? and then he no-showed or something?

I think it is because he was approached about havng his own show.

He was invited to weigh in at the season 9 finale which just started yesterday.

But I still find it curious that he'd blame the show. Take last night for example. The twin with the bum knee was on the ranch for a week and has lost 100 lbs in 2 months at home. He said he learned enough in a week to last a lifetime. And if you look at all the reunions and such of past contestants it really seems like they have a pretty close knit group. The only ones that aren't a part of that are the ones that have gained weight back like first season winner Ryan and Eric. But even Matt and Suzie (two kids since the show) who have put weight on are still accountable and Matt still almost freaking finished the ironman in time. I think Eric is projecting his struggles on everyone else. If he'd sack up and be accountable he probably wouldn't have put the weight back on.

Happy New Year! 2010 is sort of futurastic isn’t it?!

I figured I would update everyone as we have more info on where to read and see Erik this week….as it stands now, “Confessions of a Reality Show Loser” is premiering on The Discovery Health Network on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 9:00 pm. It will air again on Thursday at midnight, and Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 1:00 and 6:00 pm.

Look for Erik in the NY Post, TV section on Wednesday, People Magazine to be announced, Entertainment Tonight Tuesday & Wednesday and live on Wednesday @ 7:00 pm, on Headline News Channel http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/issues.with.jane/ Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell.

I just watched the interview that Jane had with the current season winner and it certainly brought back memories of watching Erik after he won the show and the world applauded him. I hope this week he is treated with dignity and respect for what he is sharing with everyone. I have to say its nice to finally see more and more people recognize that the battle of maintaining is just as difficult, if not harder for most. There are a few exceptions that have gone through The Biggest Loser, who have managed to figure out a way to balance life and keep it all off, but Erik is not the only person to have gained but he is the only one to come out and talked about his issues. Let’s applaud him for that. I believe the reasons to do this are deep. More than just helping Erik get on track, but to help so many that have given up completely. To recognize those who have kept it off and learn from them.

                  Continue on our journey.

                    Erik - Biggest SORE Loser

I'm sorry, but this guy (and his wife) annoy me to no end. I watched the clip on ET where they gratuitously plug the new show by blaming 'Biggest Loser' for his weight regain... A few months ago there was a Biggest Loser special where Bob went to Erik's home and they spoke about the weight gain and his wife told Bob that Erik brings all kinds of snacks and junk food home and the family chows down - now she has the nerve to blame the show?

I watched Erik on the show and honestly, he was a snake in my opinion. This was typified by him throwing Marty under the bus after Bob asked him not to. Then Bob still worked his ass off for Erik to win. This is how he repays him? I just think he has some nerve. On the ET clip he says that they (the show) discarded him after he banked the $250K, plus helped him lose 214pds.. What did he expect? Where they supposed to move in with him and his family and watch every move and everything he put into his mouth. How about taking some personal responsibility?

Erik, you had the opportunity of a lifetime and were paid very well for your time on the ranch - grow up and start taking responsibility for your life and the choices that you make - how disgusting that you have chosen to hitch your wagon onto another reality show to support you versus standing on your own 2 feet and supporting yourself and your family..

There are over 1/3 of the population in this country who are obese. These people (I would venture) would give anything to have been given the chance that you had. I am a personal trainer myself, so I know first hand the struggles the overweight face in attempting to trim their bodies and live a healthier life - it is paramount that they accept that THEY are in charge of their success and failures, not a trainer. I recognize that Erik is promoting a new venture to cash in yet again on his obesity, but I have huge problems with the manner that he is doing it and the fact that he continues to blame others for his current lot in life.

                    In short - grow up.....

                      Agreed.

And nice first post. Welcome. We could use a personal trainer around here.

Another year of the Biggest Loser started again last night. Nick Mangold's younger sister Holly is on the show this year and I'm curious to see how well she does this year. She has been an Olympic weight lifter and I'm guessing she can teach her trainers a thing or two.

I will admit it. I still watch this show (in fast forward). Hope they stick with the 1 hr format.

I think that she will do well.

I'm a big fan of skinny girls but the winner of this years Biggest Loser may have gone to far. She went from 260 all the way down to 105. Now that she's won the money she should buy some really good food and put back on some weight.

They usually do, from what I understand. I would be happy to run a little lean for a few weeks in exchange for $250,000. Now she can buy a nice tri bike and keep up the triathlons!
