As an aside, I like Funk's height. He's taller enough than me that I can still wear high heels so but doesn't tower over me.

Besides, I'm quite the catch, according to Il Pad. My opinion matters the most.

My wife puts on a pair of 6-inch heels and calls me shorty, which I do not appreciate. What makes this even worse is that she's still not taller than me with those heels, but she thinks she is.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Ha, I never call him shorty and he's certainly always taller than me, even if I'm in a pair of 4-in platform heels.

        Condolences.

Anyway, back on point, thanks for supporting Mpfunk one and all! I'm proud of him for the changes he's making and feel inspired to tackle the law school 15 that has crept up on me.

Indeed, good for Funk, and for Mrs. Funk too. When I got married, I put on more than 30 pounds in less than 4 months. I went from 165 to 198 from August to December. After I started law school, I was able to lose about 25 of those pounds and largely keep them off. Sorry, I know this thread isn't about me.

            Go Funks!

I'll be happy to bring the cherry bucket, but cherries may not be in it. This bucket is for cherries right off the tree, not from the produce section of the grocery.

Thats close enough. My Mom always claimed to be 5"0" even though she admitted in private to close personal friends and family to being 4'11 1/2.

I (supposedly) actually grew 1 1/4 inches between the time I got out of the Army and the physical that found my diabetes, some 25 some odd yrs later (5' 6 3/4" to 5' 8"). That allowed me to weigh and extra 7 lbs on the BMI and still claim not to be over weight.

                Good for the Funks.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Funk, like Junkie said, so much of lifting is form and technique. I see so many guys start out lifting trying to put up way too much weight than they should. If you're squirming like a fish on the flat bench you're pushing too much weight.

I would suggest a simple circuit that would help strengthen muscle and keep your heart rate up for starters. Also, there are things you can do at home to build your strength like some dips and push ups. Search muscle and fitness for some beginner routines. Most will recommend a full body routine. You probably don't want to do splits (training specific parts of the body on different days) until you've been weight training for a few months.

I do a circuit right now with 12 lb dumbbells. It takes about 10 minutes and my arms and shoulders are blasted when I am done. If I were to break down every exercise and do them separately I could handle a lot more weight, but by the end of the circuit I can't wait to drop these puny weights that feel like they're 100 lbs.
