  • How to reset your light bulb

This is a real video, not a joke: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BB6wj6RyKo

The video explains how to make the C by GE light bulb forget a device you don't want accessing it any longer, among other reasons. You also have to make sure that it has the latest firmware.

I'm sure some of you just love the Internet Of Things where a lot of stuff in your house is connected to the internet and can be controlled by your smart phone. I don't want a single one of those things in my house and don't have any currently.

I like light bulbs that go on when a switch sends them power and off when you remove the power. I don't want them to be any smarter than that. And I don't want smart doorbells, door locks, or appliances either.

I suppose the closest I have to an externally accessible "smart" device is my garage door opener. I did have to reset that and make it learn all devices that I want it to recognize when I moved into my house. Four remotes for two separate openers. But those only work from about 100 feet down the road.

    Differing opinions welcome.

Will the smart light bulb change itself when it burns out? If so, I may be in.

Sure, but you have to turn it off and on 8 times, and with correct waiting periods for each switch.
