I read that article yesterday. Seems fascinating even if he’s just making educated guesses. He’s take on it is also surprising, and makes me wonder if that’s his honest thought since I’m sure he’d like his book to sell and making the church’s wealth faith promoting takes some of the inherent criticisms away.

But $48b in revenue per year? Seems crazy but he could be right.

All I ask is for just one of those billions-- ONE-- to go to BYU athletics. Is that so much to ask?

Same. If only one of the byu fans on CS, like, had connections to someone at the top.

$33B seems insanely high to me.

Based on the article, it seems he’s taking the last time financials were given and then extrapolating based on inflation and church growth. I’d love to see the detail calculation he’s using. I don’t think extrapolating over such a long time period (over 50 years) would be very accurate, but it would probably be just as accurate as any other method.

Especially one who wouldn't prefer that BYU drop sports altogether. Alas.

He's a great historian, weak financial modeler. $10b is better number.

Is that from a different source, or is that your own estimate? If your own, have you already detailed your methodology somewhere?

If Quinn's estimates are anywhere close, then that billion wouldn't even have to come from current tithing dollars.

I would prefer it did. I want Ute and Aggie fans salvation to fund our resurgence.

I heard in Sunday School, they were talking of consecration that the money the General Authorities Don,t use they have to give back. Maybe keep record of it. I am sure they have savings. Does the church keep track of every twenty dollar bill in there wallet? Business ventures pay there allowance.

I pretend that once called, they sign over all of their assets to The Church, and then get what they need.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
