    Joseph Smith - God Theory

There's a thread over on CB in which "midnightversion" argues that Joseph Smith is the Holy Ghost:

I have never heard of this. Is it a well known "folk-doctrine" at all that I have somehow missed? Was it taught or hinted at by Joseph Smith or Brigham Young?

After reading this, I read a few more of midnightversion's posts. Despite being unable to post in Religion threads, he posts quite a bit of religious stuff, much of which is very entertaining. Could we contribute to make this guy a donor? I think he would make the Religion category much more interesting.

The name "Holy Ghost" is pretty funny, if you think about it. Why Ghost?

I've never heard anyone argue that Joseph Smith is the Holy Ghost. It doesn't even make sense. The Holy Ghost doesn't have a body of flesh and blood. How could the Holy Ghost influence your thoughts if s/he had a body? Hmmm... is the influence of the Holy Ghost a minor form of spiritual possession?

Time for a Solon/All-American Greek or Latin etymology discourse.
