I am not sure why but it feels like Dieter U has been regulated to the cheap seats since Monson’s passing.Originally posted by Donuthole View Post
EDIT: until that last announcement, I was worried we might not get to hear from Dieter U.
Miss hearing him more often..[emoji22]

There are significant number of LDS who live in Saudi Arabia, working for Aramco. This will be great for them.Originally posted by Scott R Nelson View PostI was surprised at both Shanghai and Dubai. I'm wondering where they will get enough church members to run those two temples.
Still, the first one in China and the first one in an Arab country. Those are both historical.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

One of several things I liked about conference was the absence (unless I missed it) of any mention about the pandemic being divine retribution. The article AV linked to has some truly awful quotes from a few evangelicals blaming gays, oral sex, etc. for the virus. I suppose having accomplished physicians (or simply persons with functioning cerebrums) among the GAs helps us avoid such nonsense. Instead of focusing on etiology (let's leave that to the scientific professionals), Conference focused on the love the Savior has for us, and how with that love we can overcome all things, including a lousy virus.

I thought Elder Holland's talk was perhaps the best conference talk I've ever heard. Every talk touches every person differently, but for me, his was perfect.sigpic

You know, a day or two ago you made a post about an almond allergy or something. As I was reading it I was thinking how refreshing it was to read something from you that was genuine and in good faith - that is incredibly rare these days. Sadly, almost everything you post is snarky, smug, condescending, or just downright mean-spirited. Then I got the end and discovered that the whole point of your post was to say that Uncle Ted's allergy doctor relative was in a useless profession. Unfortunately, being slightly better than the Evangelicals is not going to win over the millennial generation. Not that we need to cater to them. But if you lose a generation, you lose your church. Although more of that in bold I think is a good start.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostOne of several things I liked about conference was the absence (unless I missed it) of any mention about the pandemic being divine retribution. I'm tempted to start a poll along the lines of "if you could eradicate the virus but it meant eradicating oral sex as well . . ."Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostOne of several things I liked about conference was the absence (unless I missed it) of any mention about the pandemic being divine retribution. Really liked that Spirit of God/Hosana number. My wife usually likes to fast forward and/or ignore the music. For that number, she paid attention."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Feeling the same way. There area few posters now that have so thoroughly eliminated all other notes from their posting that you know the single note they will play before you read the post.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Postwth?
