Interesting. It shows a video of the confrontation, too.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Hmm...I wonder why the Church doesn't release the "kissing" video?
Actually, no I don't.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I think that the only reason this video was released was that the city required it to see if charges should be pressed or not.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHmm...I wonder why the Church doesn't release the "kissing" video?

Isn't it AT ALL possible that they don't release the "kissing" video because they have limited to no footage of it?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHmm...I wonder why the Church doesn't release the "kissing" video?
Actually, no I don't.
Maybe there is a camera zeroing in on every square inch of Church property. You'll notice, however, that at the beginning of the video, the camera pans from looking at the entrance to the plaza (a natural place for a security camera to be filming) to where the confrontation is taking place. By then, there are already four guards there, indicating either an remarkably rapid response or that the issue had been going on for some time.
My guess is that a guard saw the two men, asked them to stop, asked them to leave once they refused, and called in more help when they continued to refuse. Somebody radios in to whoever has control over the security cameras to take a look at what's going on, and the camera captures the rest.
Point being, I don't think the church has secret footage of them actually kissing that they aren't releasing.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

Possible, but I very much doubt it. I'm guessing that your "Actually, no I don't" quip was not because you don't think they have the video.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOf course it is possible. Well, given that the allegations of trespass don't even appear to be viable and the man's claims of being pushed to the ground seem to be substantiated, it is kind of you to continue to give the benefit of the doubt to Kim whats-her-face.Originally posted by All-American View PostPossible, but I very much doubt it. The video doesn't show me much one way or the other.

Wait, I was led to believe that the newspaper and the police report didn't have all the facts, and that these two guys were the aggressors! I guess that part of the tape is missing, but no doubt it's there. If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

You'll have to explain to me why the allegations of trespass don't appear viable. It has nothing to do with what they were doing before the security people asked them to leave, which, as you probably well know, is completely irrelevant to the legal issue of trespassing.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWell, given that the allegations of trespass don't even appear to be viable and the man's claims of being pushed to the ground seem to be substantiated, it is kind of you to continue to give the benefit of the doubt to Kim whats-her-face.
So I'm being kind. Yeah, it is kind to presume that they don't release the tape because they don't have it, just as it is probably kind to the couple to presume that the church doesn't release the tape because it would exonerate them.
So rather than taking sides, why not use a little logic?
1. That one camera is the only one used in the video, and at the beginning of the video, it was focused not on the bench, where the altercation took place, but at the entrance of the plaza.
2. The church gave the video not to the Salt Lake Tribune, but to Salt Lake City Prosecutors, who had asked for all video and audio of the incident. The Salt Lake Tribune obtained it through a GRAMA Open Records request. So if they did remove parts of the video, they aren't just censoring it in order to keep it from the Tribune (unless their paranoia really did manage to grant them such foresight). They are also ignoring the request of the prosecutors.
At some point, it becomes more sensible (for me, anyway) to assume, as the prosecutor does, that the church provided everything available to them, just as the prosecution had asked.
