    Loud Laughter

There is an injunction against it. Why? Does anyone have an opinion or an official source on what this means? I'm sure I know many who laugh on the loud side, many of them members in good standing, so it has to have some more figurative interpretation, right?

I think it is directed to people who reply with 'LOL,' 'ROFLAO,' etc. on message boards and text messages.

Not sure that I've ever heard one. This is why loud laughter remains such a mystery to me.

Please don't feed the Danites on this one.

In practice, "loud laughter," is any joke a priesthood leader thinks can make him more righteous by reacting with grimness.

I present this to you for your consideration.

Way too nuanced for me Indy. I might actually need to think.
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yeah, and it's much easier to judge people when the guidelines are more concrete. We need some quantifiable measurement, like more than one earring per ear, so we can better separate the wheat from the chaff.

So I read the whole article and it seems to be saying to me that we should avoid tastless jokes and irreverence. I can agree to that. However, we are also cautioned against light-mindedness in the very same scripture. Is this different?

I've always felt like the young woman with the two earrings came out for the best in that story. We're supposed to think that the boy was righteous, but the truth is, she dodged a bullet!

About the same time as the last discourse on murder and petty theft. I guess they all have been de-emphasized.
