Well no. More like "today is the first day of your whole life." "The rest of your life" conjures a different image--a different feeling to me somehow. It seems to still encourage that feeling of hurriedness, like time is running out. Not that I think that you actually cared to catch the meaning, but I guess I should've expected that.

As for creekster's comments, I don't take aphorisms literally. I'm aware of what they're intended to mean. I even accounted for that intent in my original post. I was simply commenting on what that particular arrangement of words tends to conjure, despite what we all know of the intent. For example: I love the golden rule. I know what it's intended to communicate--the spirit of it is quite clear. But I've enjoyed discussions about how that particular arrangement poses some problems if in fact one were to read them literally. I've seen others make good attempts at coming up with sayings that more fully capture what that aphorism is obviously trying to communicate so that people like me who have no sense of nuance (apparently) don't misunderstand.

But honestly I was just trying to share a feeling I had with a group who, although I know I've offended more than once, I figured was forgiving and perceptive enough to detect that and appreciate it. And I think most have. I'll take that as my CS christmas present

Moliere has something worthless in his tote bag, meanwhile I don't even have a tote bag. Can't tell which is more useful in the mellenium.

What are you taking about? Everyone is going to need to know how to camp after Armageddon. Your skills are going to be in high demand.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
