  • Opening overflow in Sacrament meeting.

Our building is one with chapel and cultural hall in middle classrooms on outside. Every building built that time period built like that. Rare to keep overflow closed. However push to do it now. A few seats on back. Chapel does fill up and I seen overflow open with lots of empty seats, every building I gone to church built like ours protocol to keep overflow open.

I seen buildings built earlier too we're protocol keep overflow opened. Claustrophobia when curtain is closed I like them open, thigh can see when there are 5 or 6 empty seats.

I've heard all sorts of idiotic justifications for keeping the partition closed until the last possible minute. Generally, they focus on some idea that the members will be more attentive the closer they sit. As of the Spirit has a limited radius centered around the speaker. All that really happens is that the people who are going to sit there, do, and the decision of when to open the partition gets turned over to whomever doesn't want to sit up front, thinks the overflow should be open, and opens it themselves.

Oftentimes disrupting the meeting in the process.

Its better that one meeting should be disrupted - than a whole family should worship in unbelief.

If a family doesn't believe, why would they worship?

It's a play on words taken from 1st Nephi 4:13 and transposed into the statement of unbelief that people in authority would actually close the foyer doors. Not my best work, but I try to slow in down on Sunday. I'll do better next time.

We will hold you accountable. Cause we're accountants.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
