Have you thought of a natural selection reason for male nipples? Do you think that might be a "merciful Creator thing" too? I have this theory that it's somehow related to garment markings.

I'd also be fascinated to ask God to explain why he chose to give human semen the ability to coagulate, which creates a "soft plug" and prevents subsequent males from impregnating a woman.
It was just idle speculation my part, as I said, Sooner, something I simply like to think. My view on evolution is very far out on the 'liberal" side for a believing, orthodox Mormon. I should think you would approve.

A fantasy of humans (men?) as gods in embroyo will not bring about a wordwide group hug. You're deluded. In any event, this is no more a Mormon doctrine than the priesthood ban. When did you last hear about it in conference or see it in a Gospel Doctrine manual? Is it in the D&C or the Book of Mormon? Harold Bloom and others have blown a passing phrase in the King Follett Discourse out of proportion.
Harold Bloom and others. Didn't realize HB had such a part in promulgating this little piece of LDS theology that he deserves first billing.

I don't approve or disapprove. I'm just wanting you to elaborate on how you think God might be involved in our creation. I don't claim to have the answer.

I think there are a lot of things about human biology that don't seem like something that our God should have been motivated to create (e.g. semen coagulation).

I have very few thoughts on the subject of how God might be involved in our creation, which has never interested me much. I figure that since I believe in an omniscient God, it's not much of a stretch after that to figure that he would know how to oversee the creation of the earth, and since I believe he's eternal, I also figure he could take as long as he pleased to do that.

Well it's not something that we really think about very often, is it? I just wonder why our Heavenly Father would be so concerned as to create competitive adaptations at semen level. Can you just picture the Designer pondering this issue on Kolob and saying...we need to make sure that the first guy's semen prevents the second guy's sperm from fertilizing the egg!

                        • This was a really interesting thread until everyone started attacking Seattle. There is obviously a long history here and evidently Seattle hasn't been the best at "winning friends and influencing people." But if you dislike him so much, why do you let him goad you into attacking him? It gives him a lot of power over content.

And Seattle... no doubt you're having fun... but if you'd stop being such a jerk people would probably listen to your side of things. I think this really is a relatively tolerant group, considering.

Do you really think people are attacking SU? To me, it looks like he's the one who came out swinging, but maybe that's just my perspective.

You don't understand the dynamic yet. The truth is that everyone loves SU, but there are a wide range of reasons. He is useful in some way too all.

I agree... he's very useful. That's why I like him. . However, attacking him destroyed this thread.
