To All You Harry Tic Haters . . .

Everyone should have a thread started by someone else with their name in the title -- at least once.

Harry Tic has a passion for the humanities, which says a lot good about him.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Harry's affable enough, but when we went to lunch last time I was in town... he was all Borges this.. Borges that... and slipped in and out of Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Romanian, at will without a blink. My wife later said he was showing off, but I think he has a self esteem problem and presses too hard to impress. On the plus side he looks good in blue jeans, but the sweater tied around his neck was kind of dated. Someone should also tell him socks are in fashion. I guess my biggest takeaway question for Harry is "where do you even find parts for a Peugeot 505?"

Would I go on a second date with Harry? Sure, I guess.

Harry Tic is insidious and I can't believe he's duped all of you. Sure he comes off like an educated, articulate, and kind person, but it's all an act. He's written stuff like:

"The most urgent problem of our time (already denounced with prophetic lucidity by cougjunkie and Goatnapper) is the gradual interference of the individual in the acts of the Church. In the battle with this evil, whose names are Mormon Stories and Ordain Women, Mormon conformity, though perhaps useless or harmful until now, will find its justifications and its duties."

              and don't forget this gem:

"In the beginning, God is the Gods (Elohim), a plural that some believe implies majesty while others say plenitude, and which some have thought is an echo of an earlier polytheisms or a prefiguring of the doctrine, declared in Nicaea and refuted at Nauvoo, that God is One and is Three. In the first centuries of our era, theologians began to use the prefix omni, which previously had been reserved for adjectives pertaining to nature or Jupiter; they coined words like omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, which make God a respectful chaos of unimaginable superlatives. No affirmative predicate is fitting for God."
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Thanks, SU, and, really, all five of you, for refusing to be rattled by my grandmother's baseless accusations.

That said, I predict that this thread will die a slow, ignominious death. My friends are too few and my enemies too numerous to mention. I have found that evil usually triumphs over good, unless good is very, very strong.

Sometimes I feel like only Jesus and Joseph Smith really understand me.

I'm not sure where to put this. It's the best place I can think of, and maybe it will extend the thread's life.

Does BYU really offer a "Doctor of Law and Moral Values degree"?

I was under the impression that in spite of it being an honorary degree it was still a real major/field (in the sense that a matriculated student could earned the same thing). I didn't realize that they just made up degrees to give. I learned something new, thanks.
