If anyone is in the market of buying a tent I'd like to recommend Sheridan Tent and Awning in Sheridan, Wyoming. Since 1909, Sheridan Tent & Awning has been designing and manufacturing grade A canvas tents, wall tents, outfitter tents, hunting tents and cowboy range tents, also known as cowboy range tee pees. For hunting enthusiasts, glamping or family camping, it's hard to beat a sturdy canvas tent made in the USA from grade A canvas. Sheridan Tent & Awning also makes custom canvas, Cordura and sturdy vinyl bags and luggage, Sunbrella awnings, indoor and outdoor shades, furniture covers and outdoor upholstery, custom tarps and covers, and a wide swath of other industrial goods for companies in Wyoming and across the globe. They only make the sturdy stuff -- the kind that just makes life better out west or anywhere else for that matter.

I took both the the ACT and GRE one year too late for Mensa's acceptance so I took the American Mensa test in my area. They really offer two tests per session, the Mensa Admission Test and a modified version of the Wonderlic test.Originally posted by SoCalCoug View PostDid you have to take a special test or did one of your standardized tests get you in?

The problem with Julie Rowe is fairly obvious.... She sells her books. She uses her website to promote her books. People that have bought her book and believe her message pay for her travel, let her stay in their home, and set up her speaking engagements so she can sell more of her books.Originally posted by LSUInstituteGraduate View PostWhat gets me is how you can DENY the teachings of modern church leaders. In the October 2001 conference, President Gordon B Hinckley stated:
"The vision of Joel has been fulfilled wherein he declared: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."
One prophet quotes another about men and women receiving visions and prophesying, yet you deny their ability to do so?
In the October 1985 general women's meeting, President Hinckley (then second counselor) taught:
"Yours may be the spirit of prophecy. That may sound strange to some of you. Miriam in the Old Testament is spoken of as a prophetess. Peter, on the day of Pentecost, repeated the words of the prophet Joel, saying:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
“And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.” (Acts 2:17–18.)
Can anyone doubt that many women have a special intuitive sense, even a prescient understanding of things to come?"
Obviously some can doubt!
Her books are being sold in church owned bookstores, and the general authorities would stop that if they had a problem with her words. They would also stop her from talking in church owned buildings, and if she was saying anything against church leaders they would direct her Bishop to hold a disciplinary hearing. Unlike Kate Kelly, Rowe is not challenging leaders. She is warning people to follow leaders!
I will conclude by pointing out the end of Revelation 19:10: "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." If you deny that anybody but the First President can share prophesy, then you must conclude that every church member who ever shares a testimony is sinning. And you must deny many generally accepted prophetic statements by early church leaders who were never set apart as apostles or prophets. Instead, I would suggest following Moroni's pattern: read some of her word, study it out in your mind, and pray about it.
IF she was really a prophetess then wouldn't she just simply publish her message a PDF file that anyone could download for free? How much did Samuel the Lamanite get paid when he was delivering his message?"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

Samuel lived before the internet. Julie has been clear about why she didn't just create a PDF and post it for free download - she believes that if she did so, people would edit the document to change what she wrote then spread the modified document in order to discredit her.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostIF she was really a prophetess then wouldn't she just simply publish her message a PDF file that anyone could download for free? Does it bother you that Joseph Smith sold copies of the Book of Mormon from the time of the first printing instead of giving them away? Or that he did not translate the Book of Lehi a second time because of the possibility that the people in possession of the first manuscript would edit it then point out the differences between their manuscript and the published book in order to discredit him?
I know one couple who met with President Monson while he was a counselor to President Benson. President Monson pulled out a copy of one of the books he wrote, wrote a little note and signed it, then gave it to them for free. Every other person I have known to have acquired a copy of one of President Monson's books had to pay for it.

Yes, that seems like a perfectly logical thing to do, because of course everyone is just out to get her.Originally posted by LSUInstituteGraduate View PostSamuel lived before the internet. As per the other examples you provide, I don't think you understand the dynamic on this board. People here either don't care about that because they don't care about the church, or they do care about it . . . a lot.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I'm having a really hard time with this. Let's assume someone edits her pdf document and spreads it in order to discredit her. Wouldn't it be pretty easy for her followers to say no, the original pdf is on her website. Check there.Originally posted by LSUInstituteGraduate View PostSamuel lived before the internet. And if these enemies want to discredit her so badly, couldn't they still do the same thing. If they're working over the internet, they could simply type up made up stuff and post it online and say it's from Julie. If they're not on internet, they can fabricate pages from her book, the same way they fabricated the pdf, print and tell people it's copies from her book.

Does Jules have a kindle edition I can download? Last time I checked the DRM on Kindle was pretty hard to break. Well, for at least the average person that cares enough to discredit some crazy women that claims to have had some unknown virus that caused her to have a NDE and visions."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Not only that Jules could add a digital signature to the document so it could be easily verified to see if it was modified. Too bad we didn't have this technology back in JS Jr's day... we would have the Book of Lehi if it did.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI'm having a really hard time with this.
