That said, I hope you stick around to share your opinions, but be prepared to defend them well, assuming nothing. We're generally a civil lot, but the marketplace of ideas that has developed here isn't always kind to orthodox assumptions.

I am a member of American Mensa, and I know that one thing much worse than a bunch of Mormons who think that they are right on all counts is a group of exceptionally intelligent people - all of whom are convinced they are right and who will jump on any flaw in reasoning they find or any flaw in cited research!

Debating members of Mensa has helped me improve my logical reasoning skills as well as teaching me to more effectively spot flaws in my own arguments or those of another. I have come here, and to a few other boards, hoping to learn from members more knowledgeable about church doctrine and history than me, to help me become more persuasive when fulfilling callings as a teacher.

Edit: And some people claim that prophecies of last days tribulations may be fulfilled as soon as next year. If that doesn't happen, this forum will be the perfect place to gloat in September 2017 then my Tigers send your Cougars home with their tails between their legs!
