    Everyone, this lady is nuts.

    http://julieroweprepare.com/

Long story short, an LDS lady had some visions about these, the latter days, in which the faithful would be called to gather and live in tent cities here in the Salt Lake Valley. SOON.

    Again, this lady is crazy.

What gets me the most is how any member of the Church is down with this. LDS doctrine is pretty clear that revelation for the Church can only be received by those officially called to that capacity.

So if you believe in the prophecies of Julie Rowe, then you believe the church leaders are not receiving important information from God that the members need to know, or choosing not to share it with them.

Anyway, good times. A couple in my ward bought a $2500 tent last week.

How is this lady allowed to use church facilities to pump her books? Is there a difference between her and Kate Kelly?

      Seems legit

I have no idea. This implies she has approval from the church, right? WEIRD.

My wife's best friend called her up all worried about this lady'a prophesies. Appatently her mom had gotten into her books recently and convinced her about the tent city thing. So weird.

Which appearance are you referring to? The only one I saw on her website in a church building is one at the Rexburg Tabernacle...but isn't that owned by the city now?

Correct. The Rexburg tabernacle is a civic community center now. No way would the church allow her to use church buildings to peddle her prophesies.

              Thanks for the clarification.

That said, I cannot imagine she is considered less dangerous to the church than Kate Kelly is, right? I mean, as far as I know, Kate was just proposing a change, and never claimed to be speaking for God.

What gets me is how you can DENY the teachings of modern church leaders. In the October 2001 conference, President Gordon B Hinckley stated:
"The vision of Joel has been fulfilled wherein he declared: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions."

One prophet quotes another about men and women receiving visions and prophesying, yet you deny their ability to do so?

In the October 1985 general women's meeting, President Hinckley (then second counselor) taught:
"Yours may be the spirit of prophecy. That may sound strange to some of you. Miriam in the Old Testament is spoken of as a prophetess. Peter, on the day of Pentecost, repeated the words of the prophet Joel, saying:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
“And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.” (Acts 2:17–18.)
Can anyone doubt that many women have a special intuitive sense, even a prescient understanding of things to come?"

                  Obviously some can doubt!
Her books are being sold in church owned bookstores, and the general authorities would stop that if they had a problem with her words. They would also stop her from talking in church owned buildings, and if she was saying anything against church leaders they would direct her Bishop to hold a disciplinary hearing. Unlike Kate Kelly, Rowe is not challenging leaders. She is warning people to follow leaders!

I will conclude by pointing out the end of Revelation 19:10: "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." If you deny that anybody but the First President can share prophesy, then you must conclude that every church member who ever shares a testimony is sinning. And you must deny many generally accepted prophetic statements by early church leaders who were never set apart as apostles or prophets. Instead, I would suggest following Moroni's pattern: read some of her word, study it out in your mind, and pray about it.

Who is paying to listen to Sister Rowe? Nobody pays to hear her speak in person, but you will bring up those who buy her books. So I will rebut that answer by asking: how is paying for her book is unacceptable but paying for books by general authorities is acceptable?

Wrong crowd, I'm quite confident that a lot of us here would agree that there is no difference.

Edit: That said, I hope you stick around to share your opinions, but be prepared to defend them well, assuming nothing. We're generally a civil lot, but the marketplace of ideas that has developed here isn't always kind to orthodox assumptions.

I'm sure her 'revelations' and insights are just as valuable as general authorities', and if you ask her she'll tell you.
