A can of coke a day. That's not caffeine intake. I am sure the study focused on heavy duty coffee drinkers.Originally posted by SuperGabers View PostSnort. I probably had at least one Coke a day whilst prego with Little UD and he was 9lbs 2oz... I can't imagine how big he would really have been if I didn't drink that stuff.
(My real love is Dr. Pepper and Cherry Dr. Pepper... which I couldn't drink whilst prego because it tasted too sweet...)What's to explain? Heard at my house many times:
Sister Padrino: I'm not addicted to caffeine. I just get a headache if I don't have a Pepsi.

Saw a health tip posted at the health club the other day, titled "Caffeine".
Basically, it says recent studies have found moderate caffeine consumption (200-300 mg per day) to be beneficial in the following ways:
increased mental alertness
improved athletic performance
reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, chronic liver disease and alzheimers.

I heard somewhere that coffee is bitter because it's over-roasted, which coffeehouses do to make all of their coffee beans, usually harvested from different places, taste more uniform. Coffee snobs say that if coffee is grown well and roasted properly, it's much more sweet than bitter.
I'm not sure I buy it.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

A couple of times in my life I've gotten into the caffeine habit and both times it resulted in weight gain. The first time was a Mt. Dew break in the morning which always lead to me buying a donut. The second was a coke lunch habit which always lead to a burger and fries. The caffeine wasn't killing me but it pulled me in to unhealthy eating habits.

That's interesting, and I'm surprised that 300 mg is moderate. That's about six cans of Diet Coke, 15 packets of Gu energy gel, or around 14 servings of dark chocolate. Those are the only caffeine delivery vehicles I ingest, although far less than the moderate range. I need to up my intake of dark chocolate M&M peanuts.

That is exactly my issue with my caffeine intake....Diet Coke. I want the foods that are associated with the soda. I have scaled down my intake of DC to 20 oz/day.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostA couple of times in my life I've gotten into the caffeine habit and both times it resulted in weight gain.
