What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

She cites that finding that Utah has the highest rate of on-line porn subscriptions.

Frankly, I don't get that for a number of reasons, but primarily this:

Mormons are notoriously cheap. They will meticulously look for the best deal or freebie. And there are plenty of "freebies" in regards to this issue. Why would a notoriously cheap person pay for that which is abundantly free of charge?

Utah's rate is 5.5 per 1000, vs 3-4 per 1000 which is typical in most states. Young population explains much of the difference. Lack of titty bars probably explains the rest.

But wow, people really love to have fun with that stat.

I guess, but why are people paying/subsribing?

It is pervasive at no cost.

You'd think the titty bar folks would be more than happy to pocket the cash and do a google search for free porn.

That's the part that cuases me trouble. Utahns. Paying for something that is free.

I guess its maybe something like the same reason people still pay money to go to live concerts when they can just listen to the same music on cds.

Paying for internet porn when you can get the same for free is the same as paying for a concert when you can listen to the CD?

Perhaps, there is paid internet porn out there so exquisite that if I had an inkling of what I was missing I would be crushed and debilitated under an intolerable weight of despair and regret.

                      No.

Pocketing the cash that one would spend at a titty bar in favor of free online porn is what I was referring to.

I think it has more to do with the lack of titty bars. Texas has a pretty good young population as well but no lack of titty bars. I don't think Texas' porn rate is that high.

Iceland is an interesting country. I had a client from Iceland whose son stabbed a man 45 times after a night of partying. He was charged and convicted of murder. His family was devastated because his son was sentenced to 2 years in prison. I guess in Iceland that is considered cruel and unusual punishment. They don't have many murders but he claimed the average sentence is less than 1 year.

They have no death penalty or life sentences.
