Is the LDS Church good or bad?

I guess you all would have found it funny had Chris Hitchins done it. Personally, I think he tried to be funny characterizing the LDS church in his book that dismissel all religions as "poisoning everything," but it fell flat. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

It will end the world as we know it.

Sorry if this has been posted. It's hilarious and has already gone viral.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

It is funny. Part of me wants to say that the lesson here is that the LDS Church stuff was funny enough and didn't need Maher to make fun of it. But actually I think the last part with the porcupine, the short arms and such added value. Also, note he makes fun of his own religion (apparently he's a progressive Catholic, i.e., a Catholic about the same as Lebowski, 3D, Grace, et al. are Mormons).Originally posted by Moliere View PostI found the clip really funny

He is a total asshat. What he said after 9.11 means he should never be forgiven. I hope he falls off a cliff.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHe's not my favorite. His batting average is not great but sometimes he knocks it out of the park."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."
Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

If I remember correctly it was that America was cowardly because we shoot missiles from 2000 miles away and that the 9/11 terrorists were not cowardly because they were on the planes that hit the WTC and Pentagon. He said this on his network evening show within a few days of the attacks.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostWhat did he say? Correct. I thought he said the terrorists were brave. I have not forgiven him since then.Originally posted by CJF View PostIf I remember correctly it was that America was cowardly because we shoot missiles from 2000 miles away and that the 9/11 terrorists were not cowardly because they were on the planes that hit the WTC and Pentagon. Some of his content is occasionally humorous, but he is a self-absorbed, arrogant, condescending prick.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostHe also claimed that the US response to 9/11 boiled down to "our god is better than your god."
I usually think he is funny or at least entertaining, even if I disagree at times. His 9/11 work was pretty weak."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Whoa. Is that the infamous Mark E. Peterson pamphlet? I thought it was an urban legend.
Oh, and yeah. Maher is an asshat. Even when he is right, he is too smug for me to agree with him."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
