  • MoTab Choir Director Resigns - A Monument to SullyUte's Stupidity

It looks like the the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Director unexpectedly resigned yesterday.

A press release issued late Tuesday night by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints quoted Jessop as saying, "I now find myself at a major crossroads of life. With long and prayerful consideration I have decided to resign as director of the choir.

"I look forward to new challenges and opportunities and I intend to keep active in the musical world including teaching — the career that I originally began my musical journey."

Jessop said he and his wife, RaNae, and their family "are looking forward to spending more time together with our children and grandsons."
By the way it happened it leaves people to wonder as to the motive.

He'd be director for life if he was responsible for this, if I had my way.

Darn it. I really thought Mac Wilberg was on his way out. Looks like I'll need to keep fasting.

He's not that bad. It's just that he's only got one style, and even tho his arrangements are beautiful, they are starting to all sound alike.

The second I have the power to do so, and I mean the SECOND, Mac is gone. And I don't mean gone like not the choir director anymore. I'm talking posthumous excommunication. Even if he's still alive.

Is it just me or does Wilberg remind anyone else of Peter Boyle when he played Mel Brooks' Frankenstein? At the end of every song I almost expect him to suddenly turn around and shout out "puttin on the ritz".

My guess is maybe only 5-6 people here will have any idea what I am talking about. Given that this is a higher proportion than I usually encounter, I am taking that as a plus.
                  PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I was checking the news on KSL, when it showed up on the bottom of an article as "more stories you may be interested in". I didn't even look at the date at top. So I guess the bigger question is why is KSL showing links to 5 year old articles?

*Mods can delete the whole thread, or leave it up as a monument to my stupidity.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I spent 10 minutes scouring the internet for clues as to why he resigned, till I saw the date of the article. So if the thread remains, it will reflect my ignorance also

Does anyone know if he actually is spending more time with his family and grandchildren or did he just take a one year hiatus and is now touring with a different church's choir?
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I didn't hear that he signed a contract with his children so there is nothing stopping him from doing that.
