I thought it was a very good article. In fact, we talked about it at this week's FHE. It hasn't seemed to make a much of a difference in the way my boys treat one another, but I thought it had some excellent points about the risks of being overly sarcastic (something I do way too much), especially within the home.

I am worried about the end destination of the souls of everyone on this board.

What I find funny is that I grew up in a home where sarcasm was used early and used often. My home growing up was about has happy a home as one could possibly be. We all had our faults as people, but in terms of happiness, it couldn't have been much better. As adults we all get along very, very, well and have a great time together still. And we still lay the sarcasm on thick.

In the article, Pres Hinckley said the following in regard to the damage sarcasm has on relationships:

“Everywhere is heard the snide remark, the sarcastic gibe, the cutting down of associates. Sadly, these are too often the essence of our conversation. In our homes, wives weep and children finally give up under the barrage of criticism leveled by husbands and fathers. Criticism is the forerunner of divorce, the cultivator of rebellion, sometimes a catalyst that leads to failure. …

I'm sure that quote rings true for some people, but it most certainly wasn't the case for my family.
