If a female tried to get into the priesthood session of GC...
There is one simple, driving fact behind all of this mess.
A wise church leader who does not want to change the policy toward women would simply ignore them.
An intelligent church leader would not ban the media from temple square.
Unfortunately, there is a shortage of intelligence and wisdom at the top, despite what you may think based on credentials. The reality is that a person doesn't really need to be that intelligent to be a doctor or a lawyer or a businessman or a glorified CES instructor. Each of these professions requires a minimum intelligence. But there are plenty of unwise, unintelligent people who have graduated from Harvard, etc. When you hear Jeff Holland denying that Mitt Romney has made oaths in the temple, only to change his statement seconds later and then defend himself by reminding the journalist that he "isn't a dodo" and that he went to Yale, and then mistakenly refers to Obama as Osama Bin Laden--you realize that these men are either far past their prime or were never cut out for their current positions. I like Jeff Holland. I feel bad for the guy.
Similarly, when Oaks smirks as he explains to a journalist that it's "wrong to criticize church leaders even when the criticism is true," I wonder: Are we hearing the real Dallin or is this just the amyloid plaques clogging neural networks that were once great??
Everyone makes mistakes. God knows I've made plenty. But there is little wisdom at the top. Fifteen educated men should not be making these mistakes while working in concert. I've blamed it on senility in the past rather than pure incompetence, but many of you were offended even though chalking it up to senility is the more generous assessment of the situation.

Intelligence is not the same thing as good judgment.
I was not referring to them interchangeably. I would have only used one of the two terms if I wasn't making reference to both. I value precision.
Then it is meaningless to point out that it doesn't take great intelligence to be a lawyer or a doctor when what you are really talking about is wisdom/judgment. So while you may value precision, you seem to be very comfortable with pointless verbiage as well.
Moreover, I think you are really talking about good judgment, which is NOT the same as wisdom, but that is such a fine point I won't pursue it.

I am wondering about deficiencies in both areas in any given individual. That's the point.
Some may lack intelligence but be slightly wise, whereas others may be more intelligent while completely lacking wisdom. That's the whole point. But collectively, there is little wisdom.
I wouldn't be surprised if Oaks had a high IQ but the least wisdom.
I would give Uchtdorf higher marks in both categories.
Collectively, there is little wisdom in the group. There may also be deficiencies in mental capacity (innate or acquired). That's all I'm saying.
You are applying your own notions to my writing instead of accepting the words for what they mean.
Do you want to get into the physiology of the issue? Loss of intelligence and wisdom/judgment can be absolutely linked in the context of an aging brain. That's why I mention them both while discussing the apostles.
My own father is one of the most brilliant, kind people I know. He is just 66--young for an apostle, but I can already see his mental deterioration and it breaks my heart.

Although your opinions about the intelligence and wisdom of others are interesting, perhaps it would be of more benefit to mankind if you turned your considerable talents towards investigating what makes a person an arrogant asshole?

He's too busy curing diseases. FYI!
You're actually pretty funny when you aren't being a complete a-hole....so basically like 5% of the time. --Art Vandelay Almost everything you post is snarky, smug, condescending, or just downright mean-spirited. --Jeffrey Lebowski
Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace. --President Donald J. Trump You furnish the pictures, and I’ll furnish the war. --William Randolph Hearst

I am sure your spiritual deterioration breaks his. Of course chances are he has no clue.
You guys are right. I have spiritually deteriorated, and I am an asshole for suggesting that the brain deteriorates in old age, and that this might be affecting their decision-making capacity. I don't hold these men up the way you do. They are men. They aren't bad people--they are just imperfect, elderly men. I'll be an imperfect, elderly man too if I'm lucky to live that long.
Much of the world is shocked by the things these leaders say. Can't you see that? Why do you think the national media are covering these statements?
You don't know anything about me or what I do. You don't know whether I'm charitable or not. You don't know how I treat people. Maybe I have a tendency to state facts that are unpleasant to you, but that does not make me a bad person.
I don't know you either or what you're going through in life, but I have never called any of you an asshole, and I'd like to think that I never would. I hope you aren't going through any struggles, but we all have our problems, right?
Cougjunkie: I'm pretty sure my dad has early Alzheimer's. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
What burden are you carrying, Moliere? Is there anything I can do to make your life better? I'd be glad to help you anytime--just PM me. I am not being sarcastic. If anyone on this board ever needs help in any way, I would do whatever I could. I hope you enjoy priesthood session.
