Of course not. Most of the founding LDS leaders were Masons. Though keep in mind, a lot of them will try to mess with you because their temple ceremonies and secret tokens almost exactly match ours. They like to come up to you and give you a special handshake.

Other than the blatant deception about the intent of the site, it's great!

or something like that and stop that nonsense about how they are pro-church, then I could maybe respect it.

From a quick perusal, it said something like "this site isn't for everyone and not new members". Seems like they're targeting prospective missionaries.
"Targeting" is an interesting term. I read a few topics and they seem pretty fair, even sympathetic to the church. Much more fair than mormonthink. This isn't anti-stuff, from what I read.

You don't think missionaries should know this stuff before they go? I do.

Ok...so I just reread the polygamy section. I don't know how you can answer those questions any more sympathetically to the Church and still be honest. Do you? For example, this answer to JS's polygamy:

Yes, Joseph Smith and many other Mormon prophets practiced plural marriage. Due to its sacred nature, Joseph Smith denied his participation in the practice to anyone outside of his inner circle.

Um...that's as generous a take on why JS lied about polygamy as I can imagine that is remotely honest.

Ok...the Science section could use some work. It's bad.

The section on "Black Mormons" starts out OK, but could use some clarification. Of course, the Church could do a lot to clarify.

Oh, come on. You can't start cherry picking based on what is and isn't authored by them. It is a featured part of the website.

This CES letter is making the rounds on all the anti-mormon sites. It is a 77-page pdf file that is a laundry list of all the standard criticisms of the church, presented without any nuance or balance. And it ends with this:

I’m sorry, but faith is believing and hoping when there is little evidence for or against something. Delusion is believing when there is an abundance of evidence against something. To me, it’s absolute insanity to bet my life, my precious time, my money, my heart, and my mind into an organization that has so many serious problematic challenges to its foundational truth claims. There are just way too many problems. We’re not just talking about one issue here. We’re talking about dozens of serious issues that undermine the very foundation of the LDS Church and its truth claims.

But they are pro church!

Unfortunately, many missionaries have died while on their missions.
