These are clearly not women that know...
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. UchtdorfTags: None

The FAQ section needs some work, missing some of the most obvious:
"If my wife is off doing priesthood work, how will she be able to have a hot meal ready for our family when I return home from work?"
"Who will determine who says family prayers?"
"In pushing for women to get the priesthood, how about pushing for men to be exempted at the same time?"Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I was getting ready to write something great, and then I thought about the single women raising kids on their own.
Now I'm confused.

CB would probably take away your temple recommend, but since you are already endowed its not like you need it anyway.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostI hope I don't get excommunicated for this."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Here's the thing: I went to the temple not that long ago, and if I heard them correctly, then in a very real sense, people calling for ordination of women are late to the party. We already ordain women to "become hereafter" priestesses. The only thing missing is present meaning of a future promise.
Full-blown ordination of women isn't likely to happen soon, if for no other reason than that it is so disruptive to the status quo (and there is some value in stability and security for an institution in the line of work of offering peace and sanctuary to its members). But I could see changes in the way we talk about what it is we give to women when they are endowed, and maybe even when they go through the ranks of youth groups and relief society. (Incidentally, Truman Madsen suggested that one of the purposes behind the formation of the relief society as a unit of the church, rather than some urban benevolent society, seems to have been to give structure to the women in the church. Women were to be organized, just as the men were organized in the priesthood, prior to the reinstitution of the endowment to prepare them to receive those ordinances.)
You may not need to remove any degree of separation of men from women, especially if you believe that there are differences and distinctions between men and women worth celebrating rather than resisting, but we don't need to keep feeding people the line that men get the priesthood to help them keep up with women (a line which I'm sure more people than myself find unsatisfying). It should be fairly uncontroversial that women ought to receive something as meaningful and significant through their faithful membership in the church as what men receive.
They could always pass the sacrament. It's not like there is a strong scriptural justification for making that a priesthood duty (and it's not as though there haven't been deaconesses, either).Last edited by All-American; 03-20-2013, 09:48 PM.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

The "hereafter"... That makes me feel so much better. Is that before or after I harken unto my husband?

You realize that you are represented by both Adam and Eve right? One of the toughest things in the church is a misinterpretation of the endowment, which is probably born of our literal reading of anything scriptural.Originally posted by SuperGabers View PostThe "hereafter"... I am confused here. From what I recall they ask Eve to stand and then separately address Adam?Originally posted by Moliere View PostYou realize that you are represented by both Adam and Eve right?
