My greatest fear used to be my own death. Now it's that of my childern and then my wife. My death isn't nearly as big of a deal to me at this point. Still don't love the idea, but it's not even close to my top 10 fears.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

My Dad died in Jan of '08 in Orem. In Oct of '07 I was in Utah for two weeks and spent a lot of time with him. On my last day we went for a ride up Provo Canyon, diverting into South Fork and the park up there. We reminisced about a miserable night there in Jan of 1972 when he accompanied me on a Boy Scout snow camp adventure. Back down to Vivian Park I bought us a couple of Cokes, and I had to hold the cup as he sipped from a straw. We got back home and got him situated in his chair and I took off to Oregon never to see him alive again.
Looking back I feel as though those circumstances of being in Utah that long at that time was a tender mercy. I miss my Dad and often think of him and like to think I feel of his presence from time to time.
I Love You Dad.

I fear the loss of my children. I wake up at night with a nightmare of my son.. He is named after a childhood friend that died when he was 12 years old. I have had the dream that my son died of the same fate.. I wake up in a panic, sweating, crying, etc. I quickly realize where I am and go check on him.. THAT is my worst fear...
Other greatest fear, is me dying while they are young and not being able to be around them or take care of them and their Mom..

My son wants to be a marine officer or a SEAL. I will be afraid until he is done."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

My father's tastes were more proletarian. He would talk about wanting some good food, "that chicken sandwich from Burger King." I don't understand it, but he lived on those things right after my mother passed away. No one else in the house and no reason to cook.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostSame with mine a few years ago. It was strange that the cause of death shown on his death certificate was "anorexia", which was technically correct, although it seemed weird that at 84 he died like Karen Carpenter. But he was ready to go. In his final weeks, I was bringing him his favorite eats (including multiple bowls from Coldstone) to spur his appetite, but with a few days before his death he essentially said, with a smile on his face, "No mas."
I got him one a few days before he passed away but he hardly touched it.
He welcomed death and it probably didn't come soon enough for him as he viewed it as reunion with mom. I miss them. I'd just love to call mom and tell her what is going on.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I miss mom as well. Hanging on to Dad as long as I can.

I miss my dad pretty badly sometimes. He's been gone 7 years now, and I still want to tell him about cool technology stuff. I remember taking this photograph, maybe 1976.
