  • North Dallas Church Survival Guide

Just as I decide to relocate my family from Raleigh, NC to North Dallas, Texas I see the Wearing the Pants to Church thread get hijacked into which is worse, Utah County Mormons or North Dallas Mormons.

Please help a brother out. What do I need to know in order to properly survive the North Dallas-type Mormons?

You'll be fine coming from Raleigh. It's the Utah transplants that ruin it.

I lived in Mooresville (Charlotte), NC for a while myself and moved to North Dallas.

There are a number of stakes in North Dallas including Allen, McKinney, Frisco, Carrollton, Plano, Richardson, etc. Paperback Writer and myself can give you the landscape of Allen and McKinney. You can PM one or both of us. There is another Cuffer that post now and then in Carrollton, I believe.

HeHe. If you drive a ford pickup and use words like "fix in'", "nuttin'", and "Var'mit" then Sherman is the place for you.

My advice...move to a real city
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Use Texas as a stepping stone to move on up eventually to Bountiful, Utah.

Tim, I'm only the biggest Utah Ute fan in the Stake. You know...the one all the BYU fans come ask every Sunday whether or not the Cougars won that week?

Its not like I have been hiding. In fact, just ask everyone in your ward who the biggest Democrat in the stake is besides Pres. Maxwell and I bet my name gets thrown out there.

Heck, your wife was in our ward before you got married and moved to Apex.

I'll take our connection a step further. A couple of years ago I planned on meeting a couple of utefans.net members at a tailgate during the Boise State-Utah game. Well...everyone thought you were me since you showed up in an NC State shirt and they all knew I was from Raleigh. We met and you were hanging out with mpfunk at the tailgate and the game.

So, yeah...about that comment you made earlier?...

North Dallas is very much republican country. You'll want to live more downtown (by me) or in South Dallas where they have bars on the windows.

Yep. I-30 is a pretty significant dividing line in Big D.
