I had my second PPI last night. Yes, my second PPI as an elder in about 16 or so years of being an elder. I think the last one was while I was at BYU. Aren't these things supposed to be done quarterly or annually or something like that?
It went well. My EQP is a great guy and I like hanging out with him. It was a good discussion and we talked about our callings and he shared some of his frustrations and I shared many of mine. We talked about home teaching and he gave me some vague guidance on what I should look to do as a home teacher from my families. I figured he knew more than he told, but it's nice to have some direction. We then discussed my family in very general terms and made sure I was happy. He then gave me a charge to read my patriarchal blessing soon and to read it more often in the future.
In all I was very spiritually and emotionally uplifted. There was no guilt for not being a great home teacher (I'm 50% usually), no hard-nosed tactics to get me to serve more, and he just basically asked me to serve more in a Christ-like manner.
I've never had a personal opinion on PPIs since I've never had them consistently, but I know they get a bad rap around these parts because of some of the overbearing EQPs out there. I just wanted to share my story as I feel really uplifted and spiritually happy today because of the visit by my EQP.
