  • Faith shut down a rock concert

Thing is could they have moved the meeting to another venue. How close is the next meetinghouse in Venezua. In reasonable driving distance? Did they have to have the meeting on the day of the concert? Did they know when there would be a concert?

That was probably before PEF but why no ac in the building. Had it been invented yet. Or was the concert so bad that the Lord had a way of shutting it down. It is an interesting story but I am sure with AC or scheduling Venezuala could of had both and the rock concert not infringed unless the Lord used the rainstorm as a way of infringing on it.

Interesting story on faith. I am sounding like DAvis now. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...k-concert.html

The second other is clearly the only right choice.

I'll bet it was the Rolling Stones. Elder Cook continuing to thwart the evil designs of Mr. Jagger.

It turned out that the two young men sent off persuaded the lead guitarist in the band to hold off warming up for an hour, bearing testimony to an amused musician that they were on a Lord's errand.Three hours later, the meeting ended and Cook and others realized they'd heard nothing from the band. When they looked outside, they discovered it had been raining hard for two hours, effectively shutting down the outdoor concert.
With the window open it took them two hours to realize that it had been raining hard? I hope no one left the window of their car down.

Gene R. Cook is always taking a good rock and roll anecdote one step too far:

Further, as the men departed Caracas and headed back into sunshine and heat, they realized it was only raining over the concert venue.
The impromptu rain and the lead guitarist part was good enough. Why pile on one straw too many?

In a way, these Gene R. Cook stories make him somewhat of a punk rocker. :rockon1:

                    Yeah, check out this one:

Elder Cook walked right into the crowd, taking his microphone down onto the main floor and gathering those in the chapel up close.\"I know what's concerning most of you here today,\" he said, \"You are wondering where your spouse is, was he killed in the war in heaven?\"
WTH? Killed in the war in heaven?

I didn't realize Venezuela was doing so well. I mean, since God had 3 hours on his hands to drown out a rock concert, it's obvious there was nothing else of importance to do down there.
