  • Mass baptism event next week (7/7/2012)

Next week there will be a mass baptism at my stake center. It's the stake baptism day and it's anticipated that 10 people will be getting baptized.

Stale cookies will be served in the cultural hall after the event.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

They don't want Romney to win.

I guarantee you that if several dozen people converted all at once and got baptized the same day at a mass baptism, the DesNews would cover it.

Yes they would and KSL would send CArol Makita to cover it.

I'm just having fun. It's Friday after all!

This is a nationwide event. We're doing the same thing in our ward. 4 people.

On Cougarguard it was very common for people to discuss masturbation on Friday. That was when SoonerCoug was an active poster.

Why was it limited to Friday?

I would venture to guess that none of the 10 understand how the Book of Mormon was translated, none of them will have heard of Fanny Alger or Helen Mar Kimball or Marinda Johnson Hyde Smith, none of them will have any idea what an Egyptian Book of Breathings is or how it relates to the Book of Abraham, none of them has ever considered the Adam-God theory or considered that the Holy Ghost might be Heavenly Mother, none of them has any concept of what correlation means in the Church and cannot distinguish between Church corporate policy and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, none of them understand that women are not allowed to handle money or serve in leadership in any significant way in the Church, and and none of them understand that in the Church they are joining salvation depends on secret handshakes and password names given to angels on the road to the pearly gates.

Good luck with retention over time.
