  • Fornication pants

I'm listening to Niall Ferguson's "Civilization" and he's talking abt the role of Levis in standardizing western fashion and he says "as late as the 1850s the Mormon leader Brigham Young called pants with buttons / openings in the front 'fornication pants'"

I'm not surprised, since I think most of the shady lot here at CUF are known for wearing pants w/ buttons.

But has anyone heard this? True or apocryphal?

I thought this was a thread about sexual noises.

I don't know about pants and buttons, but I can attest to having experience with a fornication sock as a young man.

Current church leaders seem to have more concerns about pants that unbutton in the rear.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but denim has been the key factor in preventing fornication at BYU for years. Brother Brigham was simply wrong on this (or perhaps his wives found him irrestistible when he sported Levi's).

I hope this makes the next version of "For Strength of Youth". This is great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
