Who is the best young baseball player? Does he play for Spanish Fork High School? I hear they have three guys on their team who throw 90 mph.

Are they LDS? If so, the potential is there for any one of them to be the best. But for now, SCcoug is correct - it would be young Bryce Harper. Yes, the same LDS baseball player who hit HRs in consecutive days at 19 years of age.

What ever happened to that pitcher drafted in the 1st round by the Cubs a few years ago out of Springville or somewhere like that?

Yeah, what happened to that kid? Mark Pawelek. I remember following him for a bit in the cubs farm system, but I don't think he ever got called up. Looks like he was traded to the Reds organization, but I think he may have stopped playing. His stats end in 2010.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Roy Halladay is also LDS so we've also got one of the best older players in baseball.

Dale Murphy was much, much better.

That reminds me of back when the church had the "all church" basketball and fast pitch softball tournaments. Those that remember you won in Stake, then Region and then a trip to SLC.

My team finished third and at the age of 13 was named to the "all church" team as the SS. They announced the youngest to back the team in history. Go look it up. It would have been 1960.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to point out to SMR that he needs to learn the proper name of his church.

Correcting SMR wasn't my purpose. Rather I was offering gratitude to the organization who has contributed so much to the world at large, as well as me personally.
