With Mitt Romney's candidacy, there have been umpteen thousand news articles over the past several years about Evangelicals refusing to vote for Mormons. Jews probably can identify with that kind of religious bias and have a sympathetic reaction as a result.

I wonder how much of that 15% is legit and how much of it is just the persecution complexes talking.

If you read the comments on any online national news stories relating to the presidential election, you can honestly say you that you hear derogatory comments "often." Based on that criteria, I'd say 15% seems low.

This is interesting in that I don't know that I've ever heard the disparaging of jewish religious belief. Anti-sematism? Sure. Blaming them for the death of Jesus, yep. Stereotyping them as cheapskates ("I jewed him down to $5.), good students, bankers? Those too. But I'm straining to think of attacks on their belief. Maybe only their lack of belief in Jesus. I can see mocking their health code, but that isn't much and you probably hear it from Jews more than anyone else.

Of course the disparaging comments that I've mentioned may be even harder to hear. Maybe the sentence was just inartfully written.

It also mentions intolerance which encompasses all of those stereotypes you mentioned and plays into the attack on "belief". Is some of it persecution complex, sure, but intolerance is oppressive.

Being an expert on professional Mormon athletes in america, I may be missing a lot. But I can't think of a single Jewish professional basketball or football player. I can think of many mormons. Are probably proportionally represented in professional sports. Maybe over-represented if we compare them only within their race.
