Christians report strong growth in most areas of India, although there are widespread instances of societal abuse of religious freedom. It is interesting to note that Christians comprise a strong majority in several east Indian states where Baptists have a strong hold.

The LDS Church is among the smallest Christian denominations in India today. For example, there are 1.56 million Seventh Day Adventists meeting in 3,995 congregations and 37,095 Jehovah's Witnesses meeting in 441 congregations. However the LDS Church has only about 10,000 members in 38 congregations today.

Not surprised that the stake is being organized in Hyderabad. That city is packed with ex-pats that help run satellite offices of domestic companies. I wonder what the ratio of Indian vs ex-pat membership looks like in those branches?

That's pretty cool. My first companion in Japan will be the New Delhi Mission president starting in July. I wonder if he'll post anything on his blog or facebook. Is that allowed?

I don't know about Hyderabad, but when I attended a branch in New Delhi while visiting I would say the ratio was 25% expat/75% local. The BP was an expat.
