  • TSM's story about German woman

Did anyone think of Paul H. Dunn after TSM told the story of the German woman digging graves in frozen ground for her children with a teaspoon (then her fingers after the spoon was gone)?

    Nope.

That was a heartbreaking story. I wish it weren't true.

It seems TripletDaddy's prediction in that thread is definitely not coming to pass where he said:
You are posting this a few days too soon.

General Conference is upon us. This is like CUF All-Star weekend.

No, it doesn't look like it, does it?

Although I did have a really nice weekend.

Me too. Spent it mostly outdoors with my girls. Caught a bit of conference that I had DVRed as well. All in all this was a great week end for me.

My initial impression was that the story has been embellished at some point along the way. I'm not proud of my skepticism, though.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. My initial impression was "What the hell is wrong with this woman's life choices that she's wandering around in the winter with a bunch of kids and a teaspoon?" Of course, I wasn't listening when he said what was going on that lead to the insanity. I hope she had a good reason. God doesn't want us to be idiots.

My initial impression was to shut the tv off. If people can't make a point without talking about dying children, then I usually don't want to hear them speak. Then I got over it because I love TSM.

Hearts were softened, lives were changed, tears were shed, and a wonderful daughter of God returned to the path that would lead to eternal life.

I had the same impression from a Monson talk from a recent conference. He made some claim that seemed entirely unbelievable, but it was only a minor aside in his story, so wasn't important enough for me to write SLC and ask for clarification.

She was expelled, along with most other Germans, from her home in East Prussia after WWII. East Prussia was then divided between the Soviet Union and Poland.
                            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Ugh! That is a depressing story. No wonder people were crying about it.
