I really liked Uchtdorf's and Eyring's talks. I liked President Monson's talk as well, although I swear he's given it (or something similar) before. I have to admit that I always cringe a little at healing stories and his was no exception. As soon as he mentioned the egg salad sandwich, I anticipated the ending--healed in time to perform. Why? It's a Staph Aureus exotoxin-mediated diarrhea (the classic presentation of this is a church picnic), that is a fairly violent illness but almost always short-lasting. I guess the blessing may have helped. Medicine has ruined these stories for me and makes me wonder if we could explain away most faith-promoting stories.

Anyway, good session. And I did really like the rest of Monson's talk.

Well, he also admonished us to cherish the masculine traits that make us who we are. Since he didn't really define the aspects of masculinity that we should cherish, it can be left open to interpretation. I interpreted it to mean that we should continue to consume beef, so some of us went to a local steakhouse and are going to grab some dinner now.

He's repeated stories before. A year ago he told the story of his son Clark being interviewed to be a deacon. ("The bishop quizzed Clark on his knowledge of the scriptures; this is one of those times where a father prays.") He first shared that one about five years ago.

I really enjoyed priesthood session tonight. I really liked what Elder Packer said about not just focusing on the technical but also the practical and suggested that young men learn to be handy and do things around the home. Eyring was great as was Uchtdorf. I also liked Edgley. I've always enjoyed him since his "Behold the man" talk. I love President Monson. He's the grandpa I always wished I had.

I got a little chuckle when someone during the session mentioned not robbing from your employer, specifically to not do church work on your employers time. I'm pretty sure that is the last on the long list of things to take productive time away from employers.

I enjoyed Richard Edgley. His comments went, People love mormons because they do service keep it up, then 15 minutes of get a job for someone, then a brief pioneer mention.
