This one is bound to resonate with those of us who have tried various means of getting less active home teaching families to come to the annual Christmas program sacrament meeting.

    Christmas Eve Invite

Any other good stuff out there?

"God made the angels to show His splendour - as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity. But men and women He made to serve Him wittily, in the tangle of their minds."
-- Robert Bolt, A Man for All Seasons

Reminds me of a non Christmas story but one that touched my heart.

In 1979 I'm a missionary in OKC. A very humble family with 5 kids had the missionaries over every Monday at 6 pm for dinner. The place was small, the kids were loud, and frankly it smelled of too many occupants in too small of space.

My first dinner with the family I didn't know the situation, and I kind of felt weird being there. When we sat down to dinner, the mother asked the elders if we wanted some milk with dinner, and we both said yes. The mother then poured about a third of a glass into each glass. The 4 year old boy asked his mom if he could have some milk too, she tersely said, I told you not to ask me that, you know we only have enough for the missionaries. Having my own personal gallon in the fridge at the pit, I said that he could have my milk. The mother again said no. This milk is for the Lords Representatives, and if you don't drink it, we won't have enough food for the week. She went on to explain that when the missionaries come for dinner on Monday they have enough food for the week. When the missionaries didn't or couldn't come, they would always run out of food.

For the next 3 months while I was in that area, I made sure that we had dinner at that loud smelly place every week. And I've never forgotten how good it felt to be The Lord's Representative.
