I don't want to derail the thread, but I assume you are talking about federal income tax? The 47% still usually pay other taxes: state income tax, sales tax, utilities taxes, gas tax, vehicle license and registration fees, etc. And federal income tax is a small portion of our government's revenues. This guy is a nut regardless of his tax status.

And is there any proof this modern Van Gogh actually makes enough off these masterpieces to be subject to any federal income tax himself when all his expenses are deducted?

Don't tell this to the people who feel a smug sense of superiority because they paid $500 in federal income tax last year.

I agree he's nutty, but he appears to be harmless. I'm assuming he pays federal tax because he has a fairly nice shop at the mall. If he was struggling, I'd assume he would have a cheaper storefront.

I guess my point is; he's nutty, but at least he's not a parasite.

There's a guy like him in my ward. Nutty, but a great guy and a great neighbor.
