What are the little things that keep you coming to Church?

1.) If Heaven is a place full of more senior folks willing to sit on uncomfortable chairs to better enable them to teach 3 year olds, it sounds like a place even better than a place where all the womenfolk got falsies!

A reference to falsies almost brought a tear to my eye.

3.) The old married couples. I love their serene countenance of a fulfilled life consisting of service to their God, each other, children and community. I see it in their eyes and it fires me up. In my little redneck town I call them the wonderful nobodies. Their contributions to society don't get them any attention or notoriety but in their way they struggled for years to do what they believed was right and I can see that fulfillment in their eyes.

I really like this comment. I love the wonderful nobodies too. My own parents are now wonderful nobodies.

I don't need or even desire the "social" aspect.

Maybe I should, it would probably make me a better person... but I'm not there.

I go because I know it makes me a better father and husband, and person. It makes me think about the kind of man I should be the rest of the week.

I still don't know how much of it I steadfastly believe... there is no doubt however about the fact that it has a positive influence in my life.

I've tried the religion of Harley Davidson, boating, and wheelin' on Sunday... although it's fun... it did not help me be a better man.

I don't know that this qualifies, simply because I'd still be going if this didn't happen, but it is another thing I really like.

I ordained our youngest a Deacon yesterday. I like these rites of passage and love that as his father I am allowed to participate.

This one was particularly special because I could see how much he was looking forward to stepping out of childhood (Primary) and up into young adulthood (YM). It's probably been more pronounced because he's been able to see all the cool stuff for which Noah has been eligible, but for which up to this point he's had to sit on the sidelines. His excitment over turning 12 and all that that means in our CULTure has been very obvious, and that has been fun to watch.

No doubt at this point it is more about being with the older kids than about receiving "the power and authority of The Almighty." That significance will come with time, I hope.

What makes this better is that we have a good group of kids that is very inclusive no matter the age. They all seem to embrace each other into their little tribe.

Yesterday was a good day.
