Outstanding. The Payson Temple will forever be a symbol of keeping women clean and pure, unsullied by the dirt of this world.
A Mormon president could make a perfectly patriotic, competent, inspiring leader. But not Mitt Romney. He is a husked void. --David Javerbaum

Ok...since you want to be called out on this, this is the dickish stuff we're talking about. You may not like what he has to say or how he says it, and you have every right to say it. But you go the extra step and throw in "Adam", which has nothing to do with the point, the Church, its leaders, the temple, gender issues, or anything else. Just make your point, CJ. It's not a bad one, but you make it a bad one by including the extra shit. Geez.

        He's making fun of me.

Hey cougjunkie, you're not a very effective defender of the faith. With this kind of effort, anti- and ex-mormons are going to win.

Why don't you try engaging in some kind of constructive dialogue? You might have something worthwhile to share.

I'm actually ok with that--it's relevant to the discussion and points out that Rambam's point is sort of silly and poorly articulated. I'd agree with that.

It's the extra step. Just leave it out, CJ, and you've made a decent point.

Can someone please point me to the rules around here? I am afraid of stepping outside the lines. Oops, I realize I didnt actually add relevant content to such a meaningful thread. Or, maybe I did...

What the hell is going on here?? I think this must be the result of the super-secret private boards versus the public ones.

I think the primary rule is simply don't be a dick.

There are some silly rules pushed by folks about not creating new threads on an old topic or spelling correctly or keeping religious talk in the foyer, etc. But those really tend to be more like general guidelines.

In my experience, so long as you avoid being a dick to others you will get along fine.

(I freely acknowledge that some folks don't follow the "don't be a dick" rule. And some tend to get away with it more than others. But I still think it is a good rule to follow...)

You can be a dick if you're an old timer. Seriously, if the no-dick rule applied to everyone, could DDD ever post???

Gotta admit, this made me chuckle in a "how pathetic is that" sort of way.

I should also note, that there are ways to be a dick that are less offensive than other ways of being a dick. It's kind of like porn. I can't describe it to you, but you know it when you see it.

I'm just contemplating the point is of borrowing the identity of the legendary Maimonides aka Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon.

Being "the Rambam" wld be an approximate Jewish equivalent of being "the Prophet Joseph Smith."

Rambam - have you switched teams from Ephraim to Judah?

I am more Maimonides than anyone else! I even have a Summon wuap card to prove it!

The rules are 1) that only some people know the rules and 2) that the only posters who are allowed to break the rules are those who know them.
