I was asked to go ahead and put this in the public forum by the creator of the poll. If you can honestly say you fit the profile go ahead and fill it out.

I answered it. Anyone, what was your recommendation for the LDS Church? It asks you to be constructive. Here were mine:

1) Younger leaders at the highest levels;

2) Disengage BYU from the LDS church financially and administratively; run it like leading Catholic schools like Georgetown and ND.

Interesting poll. I like what he is trying to do but I don't think that he will be presenting any information that the church does not already know. I think that the church know exactly why people fall away or stop believing in the church.

The issue is how to change it. I am starting to believe (or maybe hope) that there is a very heated but private battle going on between church leaders on how to fix it without giving up any ground or coming away without egg on their face. Change is coming... whether from the inside or the outside only heaven knows, but change is a coming.

I'm for both of these. Although I don't see how BYU could survive without LDS sponsorship. It's going to be tough to find 30,000 LDS students that want to pay $40K a year for tuition or whatever private school costs nowadays.

The political issues don't get me excited. I'm a little bummed gays hate us now, but it's not the end of the world for me. I'm more interested in the historical issues.

For example, let's say it comes out that some people in this poll left because of the Book of Abraham. Let's even assume this totally blind sided the church and they had no idea it was an issue. What could they or would they do?

I have no inside information, but if there is one constant in the Church it is change. Some things take longer than others, but looking over our history of doctrine/policies/practices is there any sacred cow that has not been modified/changed to one extent or another? Each Church president, and many apostles, have made a mark on the church, mostly progressive with a few regressions (depending on your prospective). So I just don't see the Church standing pat or static into the future on many of the issues. We may have to roll through a couple Presidents of the Church before change comes but I believe it will come.

They need to charge higher tuition and lower the student body to about 8,000 at most.
